Privacy Policy

Foundations in Education ("FIE," "we," "us") is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organisation based in Shelton, Connecticut. This policy explains what information we collect through this website, why we collect it, and who else receives it.

Information you give us

When you contact us

Our contact form is provided by Bloomerang, our donor management system. You provide your name, email address, the topic of your enquiry and your message. This is stored in our donor database and used to respond to you.

When you make a gift

Donations are processed by Fundraise Up. You provide your name, email address, postal address and payment details. Payment card information is handled by Fundraise Up and its payment processors; FIE does not store card numbers. We receive a record of your gift. Fundraise Up also sets cookies so that gifts are attributed correctly. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, but donation may not work correctly if you do.

When you recommend a grant from a donor-advised fund

Our Ways to Give page loads Chariot Connect, a service that lets you recommend a grant from your donor-advised fund without leaving this site. The widget loads with the page, so Chariot receives your IP address and basic browser information when you open Ways to Give, whether or not you use it. If you choose the donor-advised fund option, you sign in to your DAF provider through Chariot and supply your name, email address and the account details needed to recommend a grant; Chariot passes that recommendation to your DAF provider, and FIE receives a record of the resulting gift. If you begin the donor-advised fund option and leave without completing it, Chariot may ask you for feedback and, optionally, an email address; Chariot uses that email address to contact you about the feedback you gave, which is a separate purpose from recommending a grant. Chariot decides how it uses the information it receives, and that use is governed by Chariot's own privacy policy rather than by this one. Chariot sets cookies needed to operate that connection. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, but the donor-advised fund option may not work if you do.

Information collected automatically

Website visit tracking

We use Bloomerang's website tracking to understand how supporters use our site. Where you have previously given us your details — for example by following a link in one of our emails — this tracking may connect the pages you visit to your record in our donor database. We use this to understand what our supporters care about and to make our communications more relevant.

Fonts

Our pages load typefaces from Google Fonts, which means Google receives your IP address when a page loads.

How we use your information

To process and acknowledge your gift; to respond when you contact us; to send you updates about our work where you have asked for them; to understand how our site is used; and to meet our legal, accounting and audit obligations.

Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not rent or trade our donor list.

These services receive information in order to carry out the functions described above for us: Bloomerang, Fundraise Up, Google.

These services decide for themselves how they use the information they receive, and their own privacy policies govern that use rather than this one: Chariot.

We may also disclose information where required by law, or to our independent auditors as part of our annual audit.

How long we keep it

Donation records are retained as long as required for accounting, tax and audit purposes, and to maintain an accurate history of your relationship with FIE. Contact form enquiries are retained for as long as needed to respond to you and to keep a record of our correspondence.

Your choices

You can ask us to tell you what information we hold about you, correct anything inaccurate, stop sending you communications, or delete your information where we are not required to retain it. Write to us at info@foundationsineducation.org, or at the postal address below.

Children

This website is intended for adults — donors, parents and supporters. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with information, please contact us and we will delete it.

We will post any changes on this page and update the date above.
